Sky City

"Sky City" is a name that might make one say "Why sky?" The reason for that name is the blue buildings that make me think of the cloudless winter skies. This part of the city is set in a crepuscular light that brings out the buildings as a contrast against the dim background.

After Frost

I like this change from frosty weather to thaw, when snow starts to melt and the air is full of first Spring smells. I am also adding a view from my window.

Frosted Sunset

SOLD

I walked around the downtown streets last night to get some good spots. It was an absolutely beautiful evening! This is one the oldest streets of my city.

First Snow

SOLD

I am starting a series of winter land-/cityscapes, the first of which is "First Snow", the out-of-window view of morning snow in one of my city's streets. The series will include the greeting of winter in my city (but not only), and the farewell of the autumn months.

Winter Sunset

SOLD

This is a St Petersburg winter sunset city fragment. My family and I wanted to go there this summer, but with the return from America and the move to a different apartment, time and money didn't allow us to make the trip. Hopefully, next summer 2014, we will visit the beautiful city and see the sunset with our own eyes.

A Winter Tale

The Winter season is coming to an end, so it must present a tale before welcoming spring.
"It has been a long, cold day, and the sunset is glad to arrive, casting pink streaks across the sky and melting all the land with its peaceful hue. Everything under the sky is a soft shade of light pink and lavender. The people of the village are safely at home with their fireplaces burning so bright that the fire's warm glow echoes through the window. Some invisible white hares buried to their ears in the dazzling snow stare wistfully up at the welcoming windows of the cottages, wishing that they too could be comforted in front of the cozy fireplace. All birds are in their secure branches, fluffing up their feathers so that they can protect themselves from the frigid air throughout the night. The sunset slowly drifts to twilight, the sky turning darker every minute. It was a soft and quiet pink only a few minutes ago. Now it is a stormy bluish-gray - the color of the frosty twilight in late winter. The hares leap back to their dens, abandoning the cottages that had betrayed them by not opening their doors and letting the hares inside. The birds are drifting in an out of a peaceful winter sleep. And when the stars begin to appear and the sky darkens to a dark navy blue, the land is covered with a dark sheet of winter sleep."
The Winter finishes its tale, sighs, and steps out of Spring's way.

Winter Morning

SOLD

One more painting of winter in Russia. You can tell that it's a very cold morning, because the houses have smoke coming out of the chimneys. I really enjoy painting these winter landscapes! I guess I miss snow...
