July Peaches

In two or so days, July will turn into August, and these peaches will be long gone - so this painting will be something to remember them by.

This is 8"x8" gesso board. I worked non-stop for 4 hours on this one. And I didn't notice how the time passed. It was such a painting flow. I just love the 8"x8" size! It feels very comfortable for me.

Pomegranate II
SOLD
Couldn't resist painting this pomegranate a second time. The previous painting was vertical, and this one is horizontal.
Have a good weekend!!

Watermelon
SOLD
I just returned from our country house and bought a watermelon from a street fruit seller right below my apartment window. I came home and cut a piece from this huge watermelon and painted it. I wanted to try it but decided to paint it first. So, when I was done, this slice of watermelon became my trophey - it was nice to finally eat it!

Pomegranate
I was so happy to find this absolutely beautiful pomegranate in
the store! It's red you could probably say. But when you take it in your hands - its skin has so many colors! I like the combination of warm and cold colors in the pomegranate. This is what makes a painting richly colorful.
I made a close-up photo, so you could see my brush strokes closer. Thanks for watching!

Bright Fruit
SOLD
Me and my daughter were taking a walk in the park, and on our way home, we saw a stand with lemons and bunches of grapes. My daughter told me "These grapes would be great for a still life of yours, Mom..." So there you are - "Bright Fruit". And, in addition, FREE SHIPPING!

Grapefruit and Wild Cherries
SOLD
These wild cherries are also from my garden - they are different from those cherries that are sold in supermarkets: they are more sour, smaller, but have a unique fragrance. We usually make jam from such cherries and their fragrance makes wild cherry jam especially good.

Raspberries from My Garden
SOLD
I picked these raspberries from the raspberry bushes in my garden. What I said before about the ephemeral nature of Russian summer is particularly true about raspberries - their season only lasts for about two weeks. Minus rainy days, of course, when you can't pick them and they might even go all watery and tasteless. Yesterday we had an hour long interruption in the rain and drizzle and I rushed to pick a few berries. That's how these ones survived the rainy day.

I bought this grapefruit and it was supposed to be a red one inside.
My initial disappointment with its color disappeared, however, when I started painting it.

Do you see the difference? The upper picture was retaken today and looks more like it's supposed to in real life.
I was so glad to see the cherries in a local store again! and the peaches smelled so good when I was passing them by!

Spring Fruit
While I was painting these fruit, a nightingale was singing outside my window, reminding me that it's spring now. Fruit are traditionally associated with Autumn but nowadays we can get fruit all the year round, even in Spring - hence the title.
