I  took this photo during my family's stay in California about 6 years ago. I just love it! My daughter was in elementary school, 2nd or 3rd grade. Only 3 years after, when we moved to Athens, GA, did I begin to paint every day, which was a new experience for me.

This is one of my improvisation painting.
I was looking through some of my daughter's photos when she was four/five, and I found a photo where she was wearing a similar sort of dress as the one painted, but was not on the seashore. The only thing in this painting that was taken from the photo is the face - the rest is all improvisation! I rarely try that, but today I decided to change my work scenery.

I took this photo in Charleston, South Carolina, while visiting in summer 2012. Lovely city!  I discovered this photo in my files today, and decided it could turn into a painting... and so it did.
